For the rest of this morning, we will explore the framework and principles of Nonviolent Communication (NVC). We'll begin with a TED Talk that gives us an overview and will then watch a quick "how to" video on putting the 4 specific steps of NVC into action. Then, we'll shift into putting these ideas into practice:

PRACTICE (15-20M)
Call to mind a recent or even a current interpersonal conflict that you are facing.
Using the 4 steps of NVC (Observation, Feeling, Need, Request), create a statement that you could use in order to communicate your needs with compassion and awareness.
You can use the template provided: “When you ___, I feel ___. Because I need ___, I would appreciate ___.” Or, create your own language.
Repeat this practice for as many conflicts or situations that you’d like.
If you’d like to, make a phone call or have a conversation in which you can put this work into action with the person with whom you’ve had this conflict.
